Rhode Island hotels & places to stay

I loved staying at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina for the JazzFest 2019. This is my seventh JazzFest and we were finally able to get a room here by luck. The Hotel is at the center of it all and within walking distance of everything including Goat Island. I love the fact that we could park even before checking in because we were late for our reservation at 22Bowens. My only criticism is that the bathroom we had on was small but again it’s Newport and cost/benefit your not going to find anything as centered, clean, classy with top notch service at least not until 2021. (New Hotel is coming in we shall see.) The staff got us the room we wanted and we got our water-view. Next year we will be back. Just expect to pay a lot for two nights, why because it is Newport during the JazzFest!.

Our stay at Providence Biltmore Hotel was a good experience. The hotel was located in the city center, very close and walking distance to the largest mall in Rhode Island. Biltmore is a historical hotel, as is evidenced by its architecture and pictures lining the halls showing famous people like Audrey Hepburn. The room was very big and spacious. Though it was a bit old and the paint was chipped in some areas, over-all, it was a nice hotel to stay in.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Nylo for the first time and we both had such an amazing time! The staff at first were a little off putting (guy at the front desk was not as welcoming as we needed) but other then that one staff member, everyone else were incredibly nice and accommodating. The rooms and views in this place are beautiful definitely worth every cent we spent. They also had a pool table downstairs that we enjoyed (although we were hoping there would be more than one so we can play more then once). We were able to get in and out of Providence with no hassle at all. Honestly best experienced we've had in a hotel by far, we look forward to our next stay.

I was so excited to spend a weekend away at this hotel and ended up rather disappointed. To start, our room was clean, below average in size and had a window with a view of the wall of the building. We were visiting in the off season and the hotel was not crowded, so I do not understand why that was the room we were given. However, I was very excited to enjoy the hotel pool and outdoor hot tub. I even called earlier in the week to make sure it was open in the winter. The hot tub inside was "polluted" so no one could swim in it. And I was told the out door one was not working so it was going to be basically a "cold bubble bath".

So, we were up in Providence to visit friends and attend an annual dinner event. This was our first time staying here; we chose it because it was about $50 cheaper than the hotel we usually stay out. All in all, it's a good value, but there were a few things that really bugged us: 1. Walking in, the whole place smelled as though it had been sprayed with Febreeze. My husband and I are allergic and very fragrance sensitive, so this was a big issue. We realized on walking into our room, that they also use it in the rooms. We called and asked them NOT to use any cleaning products in our room that are scented, and the next day was better (meanwhile, my husband got up in the middle of the night with a "near" asthma attack - yes, he has asthma.). 2. We arrived late afternoon on Friday and were rushing out to meet friends for dinner. I went to put some things in the safe, but couldn't get it open because it was locked. They sent someone up, and he said he had to come back in a half hour. I ended up having to take all my valuables with me to dinner. A small thing, but annoying. 3. The next morning, after spending 20 minutes trying to get the Keurig Coffee Maker to work, I gave up and went downstairs to get a cup of coffee. To their credit, they sent someone up within an hour with a brand new one. (the hotel gets 5 stars for responsiveness). But don't you have someone check out the rooms each time a guest checks out to be sure everything is in working order? 4. The King room (with the harbor view) was so small that in order to walk between the end of the bed and the dresser, one of us had to get out of the way. Really. And we are both really slim. Seriously. You could barely open the dresser drawers. Bad design BAD DESIGN. Word to hotel management from two experienced travelers: the most important thing in a hotel room is that it is FUNCTIONAL. This was not. The location is one first beach. If you’re looking to be right near the beach then maybe this is an option but there are two better hotels right in the same spot. The place is outdated, not overly clean and is showing a lot of wear. The smells are not pleasant at all. The pool area is very small. The breakfast area is a tiny room on the second floor consistent with what you might have seen in a hotel twenty years ago. The are many far better options for the money. As far as being closed to the beach, given the amount of sea weed you’re better off going to second beach (Sachuest) anyways.

Best Western Airport Inn is so close to the airport you can literally see the hotel from the airport rental car return place. You can use the over-highway walkway to go straight to arrivals and request a pickup shuttle to the hotel, so you can drop your car off the night before and save time in the morning. (Yes, they will shuttle you back to the airport in the morning in time for an early flight.) The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. Good choice if you are flying out of Providence.

I would highly recommend this hotel as the value for money is great and the facilities are very contemporary and modern. The rooms are spacious and we had actually booked a room for 2 people but received a queen bed, when we told reception not only did staff give us a more appropriate room with 2 beds, they gave us a slight upgrade with a partial view of the sea and the hotel grounds. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. The only thing I could fault about this hotel is the see through shower, but other then that I would definitely stay here again.

Complimentary shuttle service from T.F. Green Airport to the hotel was greatly welcomed as we reached the airport past midnight. Reception staff was friendly, and the hotel had amenities such as a gym and swimming pool. The room was spacious and comfortable. It would be even better if the bottled water in the room could be provided free to non-hilton honors guests as well.

We spent the night on Saturday, October 27. Easy check-in, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We didn't take advantage of the pool or the free breakfast because we were in town visiting friends in nearby Providence, but overall we were impressed with what this hotel offered. It was a much better choice value-for-dollar than anything comparable in Providence, so we were happy with our decision to stay at the Hampton Inn Pawtucket for the extra 10 minutes drive. Both our room and hotel were tastefully updated and kept to a high standard. Having a room which faced the river and bridge was a nice touch, as the view is quaint during both the day and night.

The continental breakfast is fine and basic. There was a shortage of tables and chairs each morning. There is enough room to add a couple of more tables. Some things need repair - ie. Faucets in tubs, and top floor ceiling leaked during heavy rain. The hotel is clean and conveniently located. There is a convenient shuttle service in and out of town. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Overall this is a good hotel with resonable price. The location is perfect for me because it is near the airport. The hotel provides the free shuttle service to and from airport, however you can ask the driver to take you to any places e.g. shoppign malls or restaurants nearby the hotel, they would love to do this for you which is very nice. The breakfast is buffet in American style. The quality and taste is lovely despite most of the menus might be the same everyday but for short stay you wouldn't get bored easily.
