Best two nights!”
Location very central and convenient for touring around. We made the mistake of using google maps and was taken on a roundabout hike up a hill and back down again only to find that we were just two minutes away from the centre! Staff super friendly and helpful, facilities were great with two onsens, games room, karaoke, table tennis, (the swimming pool was closed because already October), small shop, electric bicycle rental (1,000 yen for 24 hours plus free use of karaoke room for two hours!)… Don’t know what people are on about but they obviously don’t understand Japanese food. You need to select dishes that go with each other and not just pile on everything! For us, the food was really good and they had a fairly decent range to suit most tastes. Would definitely go back again!

Satisfied stay ”
Room is spacious. Convenient location on the island about 10 minutes walk to the ferry. Good variety of food both in buffet breakfast and dinner. Nice and clean. Window is facing trees with nice and soothing red foliage. Will come back.

Nice resort with onsen”
It was a very nice resort, near to the shopping street. I booked the Japanese room, and it was quite a big room to accommodate 3 adults. Indoor and Outdoor Onsen was great. Breakfast was also good with variety of Japanese and Western selection. As the shops doesn't open so early, so choosing the room with breakfast was a good choice. Toiletries was of very good quality, a reputed Japanese cosmetic brand. Overall a very good resort!

Good location ”
I have mix feelings about this hotel. I booked 2 nights in this hotel because looked like it had many things to do in there like a pool, private baths, bath with beautiful view, karaoke. Unfortunately, when I went there it didn’t have any of them. The pool starts working in July and I stayed in the hotel at the end of June therefore we could not use the pool. They should write in their page that information. Private bath, bath with view and Karaoke also didn’t work because of COVID-19 restrictions but it was not written anywhere as well. Other hotels in Miyajima had some information about the restriction but this one didn’t have any so at end I didn’t get what I expected. I was quite disappointed about that

Wonderful surprise, beautiful resort”
We (couple with 1yr old daughter) looked for a place for a night on miyajima, according to all of the recommendations we heard. Livemax resort was one of the only ones left, so we booked with-ought much expectations. The place was amazing. From the start you can see it’s very high standard. Sparkling clean, big comfortable rooms, wonderful staff and good location. What more can you ask? Good facilities (onsen looked great but we didn’t try, the private (with extra pay option) sounded great. We almost skipped breakfast because of the horrible reviews we read, but eventually tried it - it was one of the best breakfast meals we had in japan. It’s true - the prices aren’t cheap, but we felt like we got much more than we expected. Can’t understand the mediocre reviews, the place is a 9+. Oh yes - we accidentally booked a triple room instead of a double + baby, so they corrected us and gave us a refund. Thanks :)

Excellent”
Staff and facilities are excellent. The easiest and most direct route to hotel from ferry terminal is along the shoreline instead of via Google map. Buffet spread for dinner and breakfast spread is rather limited for the price paid. Do note that some street restaurants do close early if no dinner option is taken. Soundproofing between rooms is suspect as we could make out the conversation from our neighbours late at night.

Relaxing Resort”
A very Japanese-style resort. Expensive for what it is, but there are not many accommodations on the island. Both public and private onsen baths, massage services available, and the room was large for Japan. Buffet restaurant, however, is not good with most food cold for dinner and breakfast. Rooms not suitable for anyone needing to do work, as there are few outlets and only a low Japanese table for a workspace. If you want a place to relax and don't mind the cost, then I'd recommend. If you're looking for a one-ight stay and aren't interested in hot bahts or massage, find somewhere else.

Couple in Miyajima for the evening”
Big con: the dinner was not good; all you can eat buffet made up mostly of cold tempura. Strongly do not recommend. Mijajima does seem to close up at 5:00, so plan accordingly. Room (with Mountain View) was great and onsen was awesome. Staff who greeted us in the lobby and helped up get acquainted with the hotel was wonderful. Easy walk from the ferry landing.

Wonderful onsen with a view”
The best part of this place was the onsen with a view of the bay and the famous tori. We were in here to watch the sunset and had it to ourselves (winter is certainly the right time to travel). My only complaint is that the room smelled strongly of smoke, so I am not sure whether there are non-smoking rooms or not but the one we were in certainly wasn't non-smoking. Sadly it's a common problem in Japan that everyone smokes everywhere with no consideration for others.

Everything was good except for the food”
Though the property is about 12 mins walk from the pier, it is located on an elevation which means you get good views of the bay and we even saw the shrine from our window! The onsen was not bad, and we enjoyed renting out the bicycles to explore the island. Only complaint is the food, which is probably among the worst ive had at an onsen ryokan. It was buffet style but the selection was super limited and most were deep fried foods.

Not worth the money...”
We got the "superior" private onsen style room which had a view of the Itsukushima Torii. But the room was in a sad state. The windows of the private onsen were not clean, cloudy from not being wiped down. The wallpaper was actually peeling and raised off the wall in certain areas. And most disappointingly, we had reserved a non-smoking room and when we arrived--at our check-in time, they told us they had run out of non-smoking rooms that they had put "airfresheners" in a smoking room. It was not good. The room reeked of what I could only describe as a heavily perfumed chain smoker. As soon as we got to the room and recovered from the stench, we opened the windows to let in the fresh air and unplugged the "air-fresheners". After about an hour it wasn't as awful but the looming odor of smoke was in everything and I was not happy at paying 400$ for one night to sleep in an ashtray. Would not recommend to a friend or to an enemy.

Very good”
One of the staff is not very polite when we were running back from the mountain to do check out at 11:15. He "complain" us: "do you know you need to check out by 11:00 and now you are late and need to pay the delay". I must say I never treat by any hotel staff like this when late check out within 30 mins!!!!!

The food was a disaster!”
All went well but the food was totally unacceptable! To be Honest, the hotel have a very nice view, nice osen which can see the Torii and a private osen bathroom inside the room i stay. i would recommend to anyone who is not concern about the food they have. However for the dinner, it is a buffet which start form 630 to 8:30pm. I have no idea in advance and no one told me it is a buffet which when i tell the front desk i would arrive there at 8pm. I felt totally disappointed by their service in not mentioning the dinner type. I would not do further comment on the food type they have and you can take a look on other comments. I know it is not only their fault and i should take responsibility to do research for the food they provide. i just want to express my feeling on the hotel regarding the service and a warning to anyone: if you would like to have a great view and great food in Itsuku-shima in the same time, you can only get a great view in this one.

Too expensive for the quality of the services”
The hotel looks amazing from the outside however so we were impressed at the start. However we got disappointed throughout our staying: - the staff spoke a really poor English and you would not expect it in a 3 starts hotel in such a touristic area - we had to make our own bed in the Japanese style room, while in the ryokan the staff makes your bed - the d -breakfast was nice-dinner was just a buffet for over 3000¥ so we decided to get a traditional meal outside - the onsen is nice but we had a better experience in the ryokan in another town

poor service, bad food, no communication”
Don’t stay here if you want an authentic ryokan experience. Disappointing. Not a good ryokan experience. I had deluxe suite booked, non-smoking, put in smoking room, had to change which took 2+ hours. Service was terrible. No explanation on where things are, what to do. We had to Ask for yukata, they did not offer. Buffet was terrible. Tempura was all soggy. Really disappointing selection. No aoda selection. Was supposed to include beer and wine but did not. Hallways and common areas smelled like smoke. Overall felt like we had been catfished.
