"We (couple with 1yr old daughter) looked for a place for a night on miyajima, according to all of the recommendations we heard. Livemax resort was one of the only ones left, so we booked with-ought much expectations. The place was amazing. From the start you can see it’s very high standard. Sparkling clean, big comfortable rooms, wonderful staff and good location. What more can you ask? Good facilities (onsen looked great but we didn’t try, the private (with extra pay option) sounded great. We almost skipped breakfast because of the horrible reviews we read, but eventually tried it - it was one of the best breakfast meals we had in japan. It’s true - the prices aren’t cheap, but we felt like we got much more than we expected. Can’t understand the mediocre reviews, the place is a 9+. Oh yes - we accidentally booked a triple room instead of a double + baby, so they corrected us and gave us a refund. Thanks :)"

"First of all this hotel was just steps from the ferry where you enter the island. Very convenient! Secondly, the food at this hotel was AMAZING!!!! This is from someone who has traveled all over Japan and eaten my way through those cities. Thirdly, the onsen was fantastic!!! It overlooks the water and the ferry coming and going to the island. It gets steamed up sometimes but it was great! Fourthly, my hotel room was interesting and not just the standard Japanese hotel room. My room was 2 stories with a loft bedroom. Lastly, they had a fantastic lounge/ lobby with a great library of books to look through with lots of places to relax including a headed igloo in the back lawn area of the hotel. I give this hotel 5 stars! "

"I first stayed at Iwaso Inn in 2009 with my 2 teenage children and the stay was so memorable I chose it again when visiting a week ago with my siblings and sister in law on their first trip to Japan. The food is really delicious (make sure you are hungry! So much food!) and they happily catered to some particular dietary requirements of some of our party. They even left a snack in our room in case we were still hungry later in the evening. The onsens are lovely - especially the outside one. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location is great too. We arrived early in the morning (check in is 2pm) but they still picked us up from the ferry and stored our bags while we went up Mt Misen (to beat the crowds). They also dropped us back the next morning for our early ferry back to the mainland. Yes there is cheaper accommodation on Miyajima, but I chose Iwaso as an experience rather than just a room for the night. Thank you Iwaso Inn. "

"We booked sea view room with a good value compare to other hotel in the area. The location also very near from ferry station, only 5 mins walk. The hotel is surrounding with many shops and foods. Although it is not a fancy hotel, but decent and clean. They don’t provide breakfast, but there are lots of cafe nearby. Also there are coin washing machine just in our floor. Beware that at night nothing is opened, no convenience store also, but you can buy few food and beer in the lobby such as instant noodle or beer. Staffs are all nice, we were happy staying here."

"this hotel is hard to find at night if you dont take a cab and have never been to miyajima. the deer are everywhere and are very tame. the hotel has a great "onsen" bath which is empty during off hours. i recommend going to the onsen bath during off hours to really enjoy it. also, the ice cream vending machines were a nice touch on such an extremely hot summer day. we were able to leave our bags (after we checked out of the hotel at 10am) and go to the mt. misen ropeway. we returned around 2 pm and desperately needed a shower. they let us use the public bath (onsen) and eve drove us to the ferry. our luggage was big and they noticed that, and offered us a ride. what incredible service!!!"
