"We (couple with 1yr old daughter) looked for a place for a night on miyajima, according to all of the recommendations we heard. Livemax resort was one of the only ones left, so we booked with-ought much expectations. The place was amazing. From the start you can see it’s very high standard. Sparkling clean, big comfortable rooms, wonderful staff and good location. What more can you ask? Good facilities (onsen looked great but we didn’t try, the private (with extra pay option) sounded great. We almost skipped breakfast because of the horrible reviews we read, but eventually tried it - it was one of the best breakfast meals we had in japan. It’s true - the prices aren’t cheap, but we felt like we got much more than we expected. Can’t understand the mediocre reviews, the place is a 9+. Oh yes - we accidentally booked a triple room instead of a double + baby, so they corrected us and gave us a refund. Thanks :)"

"The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly throughout our stay and consistently went out of their way to ensure our comfort and happiness at all times. The ryokan is perfectly situated in a quiet corner of Miyajima Island just away from the ‘town centre’ alongside a beautiful small river. Our room had a wonderful forest view and you could hear the rushing stream, birds and crickets outside at all times. The Onsen was great - an indoor and outdoor option, overlooking the stream and trees. Lots of amenities available in the changing room and lovely smelling toiletries. The staff provided a free shuttle to and from the ferry and even dropped us off in town for dinner on our first night. The driver stopped for me to take photos and pointed things out to us - so friendly. We had the kaiseki dinner on our second night which was delicious and beautifully presented. Overall we had a fantastic stay - so peaceful and relaxing with such kind and attentive staff."

"I had my reservation on 5th floor of Sakuraya. Staff is very kind as I went there faster than check-in time. Therefore, they allowed me to put my luggage at the hotel first. They clearly explaned me about resturant and sight-seeing place on Miyajima. There is a grill oyster shop in front of hotel which is very convienient. Less than 10 minutes walk to JR station and Itsukushima Shrine. After I came back, I noticed that they had already put my luggage in my check-in room which impressed me very much. Room is tatami style room which is even big for 4-5 people to stay. Also, you can enjoy the view of Seto Sea from your window. On rainning day, they rent me a umbrella for free. The only disadvantage of this hotel is that the elevator go to only 4th floor and you have to take a walk to 5th floor. There is so hard to find an impressive hotel at this price. Don't hesitate to reserve Sakuraya."

" We wanted a ryokan experience while in Miyajima and stayed here. When we arrived at the ferry, we went to the information booth and they called Jukeiso to pick us up. There’s a free shuttle. They served us tea in our room. Sumptuous dinner was served in the dining room with spectacular views. We booked our own private bath time. It’s a great place to stay. The staff were really nice. "

"this hotel is hard to find at night if you dont take a cab and have never been to miyajima. the deer are everywhere and are very tame. the hotel has a great "onsen" bath which is empty during off hours. i recommend going to the onsen bath during off hours to really enjoy it. also, the ice cream vending machines were a nice touch on such an extremely hot summer day. we were able to leave our bags (after we checked out of the hotel at 10am) and go to the mt. misen ropeway. we returned around 2 pm and desperately needed a shower. they let us use the public bath (onsen) and eve drove us to the ferry. our luggage was big and they noticed that, and offered us a ride. what incredible service!!!"

"The location of the hotel is very accessible. It is at the heart of the shopping/food lane and not very far from the Miyajima pier (about 10 mins walk). We were greeted by very friendly faces once we were inside and the hospitality was very warm and inviting. The room was spacious (for three of us) and it was very clean. The hotel staff will set the futons for us while we were having dinner (or you can tell them exactly when) and re-pack the futons for us during breakfast. Food was amazingly good. Given our Pescetarian diet, we had limited choices but the food was still delicious and esthetically served. Please order the Japanese menu even if you are itching for the western meal. The Kaiseki dinner is amazingly good. Given that where I came from, such meals with similar standards would cost much more than what we paid. The hotel also has a public bath which opens at certain timings. The outdoor bath faces the sea and watching the night sky while soaking in the bath is truly a wonderful experience. If I were to come back to Miyajima, this is the place I'll stay again. It definitely deserves the 9.4 ratings on Agoda."

"Stayed one night in a single room. There was all I needed. Very welcoming staff speaking perfect English. The location is just next to the Itsukushima Shrine which means on the other end than the ferry. It is just at the entry of park leading to ropeway. The hotel seems old, but OK. One thing was surprising that after I booked a room without meals I received an email stating "You've booked without meals, so that you are supposed to eat out but every restaurant closes early evening. Also, there's no convenience store in Miyajima. Please make sure that you'll get any foods ..." This information turned out to be not true as there is one supermarket (〒739-0555 Hiroshima, Hatsukaichi, Miyajimacho, 幸町西表432) and there were some places open after 5pm (when most shops closes). In fact, the reception provided me with the list of bars/restaurants I could go to that were open later at night. At the time I stayed I found the price rather high."
