Did you find this review summary helpful?
This time, since I just wanted to be able to sleep during the expo, I decided on this accommodation. It was surprisingly cheap, as we could stay for two nights with two people for less than the price of one person for one night at other budget hotels, so I thought we could splurge elsewhere! However, it was an old place like I had never seen before, and it was falling apart in various places. There were no amenities or room wear, so I recommend bringing your own. The sink only has water with no hand soap, and the baths are on a rotation system for men and women with set times. If you miss it, there is a private shower available 24 hours, which is reassuring. The room has a refrigerator, and there are outlets available for charging. There is only one hairdryer on the first floor laundry, so it might be good for those who need it to bring their own. Security-wise, it felt a bit scary at times, but humans are strange creatures that adapt, and by the second day, I felt fine. The hotel staff was all very kind and accommodating. They also provided free towel exchanges. Overall, I think it's a good choice for people looking for cost performance. It's very close to the station and near a convenience store, making it convenient.
You get what you pay for and the value at Taiyo is great. You get a bed to sleep in and some facilities to live for a fraction of a standard hotel. Biggest complaint is the clensiness of the kitchen and some areas. Simple things like cleaning the garbage cans and walls in kitchen as well as inside the microwaves would make a big diffrence. The washrooms are clean other than the floors could use cleaning from corner to corner. The rest of the hotel and rooms are fine albeit a bit rundown but that is to be expected for the price and age of the building. The staff were great and location is decent.
We stayed here one night because we knew we were arriving late, the price was low, and it was within walking distance to Osaka-Abenobashi train station. For all those reasons the place was great. The shower and bathroom facilities were good, not super clean but fine. The AC worked great in our room. The pillows were literally sacks full of beans, so uncomfortable. We’ve never experienced anything like that. This place is fine if you just need a place to stay for a night.
At first glance, you'll see the place to be "old and a bit dirty" ~ we got taken aback. Specially when we saw what the "Japanese-Style beds" setting was all about ~ futon mattresses on the Tatami floor. The place may have some "old stains" all over the building ~ but I must say it's "fairly clean". At least, our room was ;) IF you are not used to sleeping on the floor - I fully suggest you do not book the tatami room or Japanese-style beds. Go for western-style. The rooms are not fully insulated, so at 8º to 15º , the room will be as cold too! There was no heating but luckily the futon blankets are thick and comfortable. The tatami floor got some stains but definitely no bugs or insects ~ Im allergic to bugs you see. It's fair to say that it's a "dormitory". Expect how the common facilities be like ~ the common shower, common toilets, common sink, elevator, kitchen ~ expect these to be a little dorm'mie with some old stains. We stayed for 5 nights, and we just had 4 pcs of the clothes hangers. For hot water and bathroom scale, these are available at the lobby. What's nearby : Dobutsuen-Mae Station -- entrance right in front Shin Imamiya Station -- 4 mins walk Osaka Tower -- 5 mins walk Don Quijote - 7 mins walk Tennoji Park - 7 mins walk ... and lots of affordable food choices as well. _____ IF you are a little tight on the budget or IF "you only sleep" in your room anyway, THIS PLACE is actually GREAT !

“Hotel review”
Room - small but that's OK since I'm only there to sleep. Thin walls. So it depends on your luck if you get a good neighbour - Bed & pillow. Initially ok but they tend to be too soft after a day or two. Had to use a towel and place it under my pillow - AC is working wonderfully Facilities - Induction cooker, free cold and hot water, knives, refrigerator, pots, pans, fork, spoon cups and chopsticks provided - Shampoo, soap and conditioner provided. - Public baths open at certain timing which helps if all the 5 shower rooms are used. - One thing I need to highlight is about their washing and dryer machine... After the washing machine is done, my clothes were soaking wet. I used the dryer but not only it wasn't dry, in fact I had to wring out so much water after the first round of using the dryer machine. There were sticky notes regarding the capacity of the dryer (to win m which is complied to) but what wasn't mentioned was that the dryer runs on electricity (or so the older staff during night shift claimed as i gave immediate feedback) and hence weaker compared to the ones powered by gas. I highlighted again this the next morning to a younger needy looking staff who told me, "We don't provide refund" I was taken aback because i expected him to at least give it a check if it is working properly or not. Perhaps he wasn't fluent in English. So I overlooked that. Next he said, "put more coin, maybe 3 rounds". He wasn't even apologetic. I felt scammed as they did not tell us this. This is the first experience of having to wring out water by myself after using a dryer machine. This incident definitely brought the ratings down. I had my itinerary planned and I missed my Shinkansen because of this. Location - Prime. Located next to a subway train entrance and their main JR loop line is only 5 minutes walk away Cleanliness - Staff will clean the toilet regularly but some backpackers may not observe hygiene. Kitchen utensil are so so (some pots have burnt stain and it wasn't replaced) but the oven & microwave are poorly maintained with old food stain stuck on the inner walls. - Value for money It's one of the cheapest option if you want a single room without having to share it with others except toilets and showers.
