The rooms are airy and bright. The rooftop a sanctuary of retreat after a days explorations. 2nd floor area for the cafe is a nice place to indulge with one of the hostels cafes espresso beverages. It feels like a scene for a Lofi video when the subway train rumbles past in the night. *chef's kiss* I had many a perfect moment late at night in 12 minute intervals writing and thinking in this ambience. The blankets, a cool and soft delight. Sleep chambers are modest yet comfortable. A pleasant neighborhood. A stone's throw from the Fine Arts gallery about 12 minutes walk away. The wide open space in front of the Expo center is a magnet for various local musicians to ply their trade, as well as local youths honing their pop-locking skills. Next door, a whisky haven selling various elixirs at a very reasonable price, including some very esoteric Ardbegs. (they also have a 90s bottling of Johnny Walker Green Pure Malt that I recommend if you want something friendly and soothing to the senses) It's not a social guest house. I found the hushed environment somehow creating a sort of library vibe. Which is great if you just wan to chill. But, it was a little strange that non-one really made eye contact or conversation. A few other travelers told me this is the vibe in Taiwan though. If you're looking to socialize I would head to one of the more central hostels. But for people who just want to chill, this is a hidden gem that will surpass your expectations. I might suggest the hostel provide 25% - 50% discounts on coffee with a cookie in the morning for guests. It seemed pretty quiet that time of day in the cafe, and I think it'd be a nice way to get all the guests chilling together in the morning and also be a nice in-between offering since there is no breakfast at this guesthouse. I know you guys like to bake <3 10% discount for coffee not quite a sweet enough deal to stay in the hostel for beverages... maybe offer 20% on drinks and half price bakery at closing time so nothing goes to waste. And the common room is so quiet. Maybe put a bluetooth speaker up there that people can connect their phone too? All in all. A lovely guest house. I'll return when I'm in Taipei again =)
