“I stayed for the summer fireworks festival.”
I read reviews that one night wouldn't be enough, so I stayed for two nights. The hotel buffet had a wide variety of dishes, and with three large public baths and many activities, I definitely recommend staying for two nights if you're traveling with children! The sashimi at the buffet was fresh and had a wonderful texture, and the freshly grilled steak was very tender and delicious. I also enjoyed the local Shizuoka gourmet dishes, Shizuoka oden and Fujinomiya yakisoba. The kids' food section was well-stocked, and the whole family was very satisfied. I was looking forward to the fried mackerel sandwich and freshly made French toast for breakfast (which I saw in a video), but unfortunately, they weren't available on both days. That was the only regret I had. The room was a 10-tatami mat Japanese-style room, and we were able to relax comfortably as a group of five. The cleaning was thorough, and it was very comfortable. The wash area had extension cords and smartphone charging cables, which was helpful. We could watch fireworks up close from our room, and it was quite impressive. It became a wonderful memory for our family! I visited all three large baths, but I recommend the one on the 15th floor as it offers a view of the ocean while you soak! The baths switch between men and women, and I enjoyed both in the morning and evening, and the views are something you can't easily experience. I highly recommend going to both during bright hours; the sunrise and sunset are stunningly beautiful. The Refa hairdryer in the washroom dried my hair quickly, which was really helpful. The changing room was clean and spacious. If you need an extra bath towel, you can request one at the reception. The coin laundry was convenient; for 500 yen, you could wash and dry clothes with automatically dispensed detergent. After inserting money, you input a four-digit PIN to lock the door, so there was no worry about theft. There are four washing machines available. The ocean pool charged 1100 yen for elementary school students and 2200 yen for middle school students and above. Sandals are provided in the changing room. Bath towels are offered at the activity reception. There’s also a spinning machine for swimsuits in the changing room. You only need to bring swimsuits and goggles. The children were delighted to swim in the beautiful sea. After checking out at 10 AM, we were able to enjoy the ocean pool and dry our hair in the large bath before heading home, making the most of our time at the hotel. We took the last morning shuttle bus at 12:20 PM. The souvenir shop inside the hotel has a wide selection and delicious snacks, so I recommend it! Even after buying a lot, it was about 1200 yen for shipping to Tokyo in a cardboard box. It arrived by the next morning. The shuttle bus schedule from Atami Station to the hotel isn’t always reliable, so it's better to arrive about 20 minutes earlier. Lastly, thank you for your hospitality over the three days. The staff were all impressively kind and courteous. There were many foreign staff members with broken Japanese, but they did their best to assist. On the second day, my child left a smartphone charging in the room, but when we returned in the evening, the cleaning had made the room spotless, while our belongings and the smartphone were left as they were, which made me feel reassured about the trustworthy staff. I completely understand why the reviews are so positive! I would love to visit again if I get the chance.
